Iguana

GREEN IGUANA (Iguana Iguana)

As indicated by its name, this iguana is green in colour, ranging from grey–green to bright green. Fully grown adults are generally between 120 and 180 cm long, but can reach up to 210 cm.

Iguanas are well equipped to avoid predators, being good climbers and swimmers, and having strong claws and excellent camouflage. Although primarily herbivorous, iguanas can also be omnivorous. Found in Central and South America, this iguana has been accidentally introduced to Hawaii and Florida where it is considered to be a threat to native flora and fauna. These iguanas are popular as pets in Mauritius.
